I have also been collaborating with MBDance as a composer for the new peice Stand:” an examination of working against gravity in the face of loss—my own[ Maria Bauman] how-to lists, writing by Jamaica Kincaid, and research into bipolar disorder are all resources for the piece. I will be working along side Maria Bauman ( founder of MBDance/Choreographer),Zoe Rabinowitz, Chanon Judson, Kendra Ross, and Samantha Speis.

Stand will show at Marcus Garvey Park this August as part of SummerStage

Birthday Show in Philly @ Chris' Jazz Cafe:

Philly Fam!

This is the first show I’ve played in Philly since my move to NY. I would love to bring in the New Year and my Birthday with my Philly Family.

Joining me this night:

Mike Pietrusko - Drums
James Cooper - Bass/Vocals

I am playing acoustic guitar, and debuting electric guitar and looping pedal.

We will start out with a couple sets of mostly original material (old/new), and a few familiar covers everyone can get into—-and end with a jam and some guest appearances.

So, bring your cowbell!

I had the honor and pleasure of collaborating with Maria Bauman, founder of MBDance(MBDance.org), on her solo piece “Women I Know”:

“a contemporary dance solo about pushing away the walls of an encroaching box of prescribed femininity. The piece includes honest & beautiful photography of women by BJ Watkins and a live original score by Ashley Phillips.”

I debuted this song at the Roots.Soul.Music show at Dixon Place for the Hot Festival with Chaney Sims and Ganessa James—Chaney and G both added a lil’ vocal love to the song that night which gave me some ideas for how I would like to record it.

So this is a snippet of my home recording—it is a good way to play with different ideas before hitting “The Studio” :-) Thought I would share
